The Importance of Alkaline Foods

Alkaline is a word used to describe the PH of your body. Your body continually tries to maintain a slightly Alkaline state at a PH of approximately 7.4%. Why is this important? If you are continuously in an acidic state, you are opening your self up to acidosis and all sorts of health issues that go along with that. It’s commonly believed that your body can do just fine regulating it’s PH but I believe that everything should be done with moderation and when it comes to the body there is no need to make it work harder than you need to. I’ve included below a brief list of Alkaline foods (good) and Acidic foods (bad, eat with moderation if at all). Also, a few suggestions on Alkalizing your diet!

Alkaline Foods:

  • Leafy Greens
  • Root Vegetables
  • Cruciferous
  • Cucumber
  • Garlic
  • Lemon
  • Apples

Acidic Foods:

  • Animal Proteins (Red Meat)
  • Dairy
  • Corn
  • Refined Sugar

5 ways to alkalize your diet:

  1. Squeeze lemon into your water
  2. Reduce sugar intake
  3. Eat a serving of fruit and/or vegetables with every meal
  4. Eat at least 1 plant based meat per day
  5. Drink green tea instead of coffee
